I'm running my Rega DAC in right now, which arrived yesterday - to be honest I'm not sure yet . Sounds a little edgy compared to my Caiman, but that is well run in. Superb clarity (maybe that's what I'm finding edgy?) and a very detailed sound which compared to the Caiman sounds a bit harsh at the moment and not as silky smooth. It sounds more digital than analogue - almost like I have put my Monitor Audio speakers back in the mix. Maybe I will have to move my speakers around to see if that improves my sound, or try some other cables?

I'm not bowled over by it right now, but it probably needs more time. It's not making me want to sit around listening to music all day, which prior to it arriving I did. This is precisely why I'm not comfortable being a box swapper, I just want to enjoy music, not fiddle about all the time. Now I feel like I could be chasing my tail again......

Give it about 200 hours before you make a final decision IMHO.

Yeah, I think it needs some time and then I need to go backwards to compare. I'm not very adept at describing how things sound, but this has a modern feel to it, rather than an analogue feel. A bit like throwing music at me, rather than being immersed in it, if that makes sense?

Yes makes sense. Give it some time, it should mellow.

Just got a new DAC meself.

I'm desperate to get in there and start playing about but it's only been here for a week or so. I don't even have my usual 'speakers available ATM...

    But bejeezus, the temptation!
