In reality it probably doesn't matter, but traditionally it goes in the positive lead

Finally got a HLLY tamp90 and have been running it in for a couple of days. Quite impressed with it and thought I would have a listen with the Caiman gator as a preamp (after moving the rca cables into the correct outlets at the back of the caiman), but I don't get any sound out. Any advice? Do i have to do something to the hlly?

    Hi Greg,

I assume the HLLY is an integrated amp, so you'll need to set it's volume at 50 to 75%, and use the active outputs from the Beresford.

But if it's integrated you're now going through 2 pre-amp stages, so I'm not sure how this will be of benefit, unless you mod the HLLY to be a power only amp.
    Cheers, Will

Thanks for that. Rather than fiddle around with turning it into a power amp I will enjoy it as an integrated amp. Its still improving after 72 hours of breaking in. Quite taken with it.
    Cheers Greg.

Took me a few days to wade through this thread, but the Class D amps look to good to be true. Anyway, have a Bantam Gold on its way to me, it's a power amp only version, without the Alps pot. John @ Temple Audio now has faceplates for the Gold that don't have the "pot" hole.

I'll be using it with a Tentlabs volume control preamp, with an active buffer stage (Chevron Audio Pre-amp). The "buzz" has led me to have high expectations of this amp, and I'll be seeing if I like it better than my Avondale audio S100.

I think you will be surprised at just how good these little amps are Peter. Also, bear in mind a further improvement can be had with a better PS.
