Jethro Tull at Belfast Waterfront Concert Hall.

Good gig, Tull still able to do it after all these years so not to old to rock n roll

However I feel that a few of the older gigs I have seen them do were better.

Camera use at that venue very hard to pull off, they watch like hawks for them.

Romeo and Juliet performed by The Russian State Ballet & Orchestra of Siberia at the Anvil, Basingstoke, last night. I'm not a great ballet enthusiast but I did enjoy the costumes and fabulous dancing. For me, though, the music of Prokofiev is wonderful and I revelled in the sound of the small-ish orchestra playing superbly and with some incredible crescendi - I wish I had my SPL meter to measure it but they must have gone well over 100dB on a few occasions. A great night out and good to see provincial touring companies like this visit little old Basingstoke.

I don't wish to speak on anyone else's behalf, but I see them pretty regularly, and they ALWAYS play the old stuff

Unfortunately I find Ian seems to struggle with his voice a little these days. His flute playing however gets better and better.

Marillion Weekend 2011 - Port Zelande

What a fantastic weekend this was, 3 days of Marillion at Center Parcs, Port Zelande in the Netherlands. Quite an experience as Marillion have a very unique relationship with their long time loyal fans since leaving EMI records, with people coming from the four corners of the globe to attend the biannual events. First night was the full album Holidays in Eden, plus other songs. Second night was A - Z of Marillion, with a song for each letter of the alphabet from their 16 album catalogue (with a couple of cheats and surprises!) and the final night was 'The Glow Must go On'. Everyone in the hall was given a glow stick and asked to vote for certain song choices by cheering and waving your glow stick in the air..... very silly, but great fun. Over 8 hours of music from one of my favourite bands, plus some excellent supports acts too.

There was stuff going on all weekend, with the band mingling in with us in a very relaxed and jovial atmosphere. For a Marillion fan it is an exceptional weekend, if you didn't like them though, the weekend would suck, as it was total immersion in the band and their music!

This was funny too, despite the audience being mostly 'rather ancient' prog rockers, there was still a nightly stampede for the barrier. In fact somebody got injured one of the nights

Some people have no idea what they're doing and a lot of them are really good at it.
