Keep checking ebay, various ones come up now and again. There are also bench supplies, but they can be a bit pricey.

To answer your earlier question, yes, even with an outboard dac it's an improvement. I use an Audionote dac.

I had an Audionote DAC 1.1 a few years ago. It was as sweet as a nut. Loved it.
I'll keep my eye out for a supply but if anyone knowsof anything do please give me a shout.

I've been using these with my SB receivers with great success...

...it's a variable voltage linear PSU, with settings of 1.5,3,4.5,6,7.5,9 & 12 Vdc, the SB receiver is 9V so it's fine for them (N.B. the web site states 5V as an option, I believe this is in error).

I also have an SB3, which like the Touch requires 5V, so as an electronics numpty I'm wondering if I could use one of these with it, with a little alterartion

The voltage selector is just a dial on the top, set with a screwdriver, could this be used to select any voltage in its capable range, or will it have specific spots associated with specified voltages?

I've just been on the blower to maplins HQ;

There would appear to be some confusion at maplins about the VN10L...

They have 3 different suppliers and three different product codes (none of which are on the box), the ones I bought for my SB receivers (9V) about a month ago were discounted to £12.99, have a red maplins label on the device, and cover 1.5,3,4.5,6,7.5,9 & 12 v range.

The ones in the Coventry store are as above, but now at £18.99

The current one advertised on the web page has a blue maplins label and cover 5,6,7.5,9,12,13.2 v range. Perfect for my SB3 and for the touch too!

So the question is how can one acquire the updated one?

Maplins are apparently going to get in touch with me, I'll post their response if I get one

Tony what does your recently bought VN10L look like, what voltage options does it offer, and is the maplins logo red?

Wouldn't that cause some problems Ali? remember my numpty knowledge...

Also couldn't it be tweaked to give 5v as it's variable voltage anyway

And even more hopefully, if the new one goes up to 13.2v could it be beefed up to 15v for a beresford DAC perhaps
