It's not really a guilty pleasure unless you listen to it

Ok, I admit it. And further, Quo was actually pretty good to listen to

I also own Quo, and regularly have to defend it when people nose through my collection! It's a good album!

What I have in mind is those records in your collection which have low or zero ‘street creditability’; the sort of thing that you bought to remind you of a time and place in your life and/or that you simply enjoy listening to, although you may be in a minority of one.

I’ll start things off, in no particular order (since they were pulled from different parts of my collection) we have:
    It’s A Beautiful Day, ‘It’s A Beautiful Day’,
The Hollies, ‘Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress’,
Hmm. I rather like "It's A Beautiful Day" Like a old stuffed musical armchair really.

Now then, that Hollies track. Terrific bass-line which after many years I'm still trying to get both tone and note perfect.

Meanwhile I'm deeply proud to say I have never bought an Elton John record. Nor an Elvis 'bloody' Costello one either!

I forgave him his sins for having the good taste to marry Diana Krall.

Well time for me to fess up I guess, so this is mine

One of the greatest voices this country has ever produced IMO, like drowning in liquid chocolate

It's a good job I had zero street cred to start with.

The intention of this thread seems to have been misunderstood. This is possibly due to reference to some of the examples I listed.

It's not that some of the listings are bad, in fact quite the opposite, it is that they fit the requirements of being "Skeletons in the cupboard" i.e. "... those records in your collection which have low or zero ‘street creditability’". I can't imagine any street rapper or acid house music fan liking IABD.

So come on - let's be hearing from all you Val Doonican and Mantovani enthusiasts!

Ive always been overly conscious of street cred when buying music. I wouldnt dare tell my two tone and punk mates as a teenager that i was going through a Genesis faze.
I did recently buy Abba Arrival when it came out as a vinyl reissue, just for old times sake.

I cant believe this threads a year old by the way.
