    Thank you!

    UPGRADING THIS LINEAR SUPPLY...

    ..is my next project.
Any pointers as to what, how and where?

I really noticed the improvement over the switching supply I had (Maplins variable set to 15v), so my eyes (ears?) were opened a bit as to how important a good supply was.

I'm sure this Maplin CB radio supply has some bog standard parts in it, any idea how it can be improved as a PSU for my Caiman?

    Thanks.

    Gaz.
Ok with not having it on Betamax nowadays

If your up to it and if the raw DC supply has enough headroom you could maybe try disconnecting the stock regulation and fit something like a Super Teddy reg or similar . Going for a ready built unit as an upgrade is going to cost you a fair bit more tbh compared to upgrading what you already have

    Thanks for that Leo..

I'd be looking to upgrade components within the Maplins psu rather than gettin something new.
The Teddyreg gets a lot of mentions here...an option for sure.
Need to do my homework on these supplies..at least know a wee bit about what I'm asking!
I know not a lot, not a big diy / soldering guy!

Seconded for the TR or STR. I have a "ripple eater" between he Maplin and B/ford. I upgraded the smoothing caps in the Maplina and bypasssed them with some Poly caps.
