I had some similar Amstrads which a mate who lodged with me for a couple of months left behind.
Used them for a while as surround speakers on my TV system. I used blu-tak to block the holes in the cabs where mice had eaten through at some point in the distant past, must have been stored in a shed or garage.
As with all Amstrad they eventually went to the skip.
He also left behind 4 computer monitors, I sold three and kept the Sony Trinitron for myself. That was almost 30 years ago and it still works.

Amstrad should have known their speakers would end up in a shed, shows a lack of forward thinking. If they'd designed them with reflex ports they could have saved the mice a job. And saved you the price of blu-tak, which must have ruined their appearance somewhat.
I think Peter Belt wrote an article about the acoustic properties of mouse shit.

I'm Lawrence.
Indeed. I've found a strong correlation between that and them not bothering with a proper crossover.
There was that weird period from late 70s to early 80s where they took old designs that were absolute tat even ten years previously, dressed them up with some writing, graphs and LEDs to look 'Techy' and then sent them right back out again.

I sense a bit of Amstrad bashing going on here, and I really don't know why - take this for example, you're getting so much for your 300 quid, to expect it all to work is just nitpicking.

I know that well, back in the '90s one of my student lodgers had one. I think it did all work but it was terrible. Truly terrible.
£299 was quite a lot of money then, too. I suppose at the time it was still the cheapest option if you wanted a rudimentary recording studio, problem was he didn't.
