I never came to terms with that either Barry.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I quite like it Barry. It took a few years to "get it", but now I do and I can enjoy it.

Marantz CD6007. As I posted elsewhere, Richer Sounds were going to repair my existing CDP, but the couriers damaged it. So Richers offered me a brand new player, currently selling for £350, for just £120.

Pretty much the same as my old player, apart from a different DAC, some bigger better capacitors (I'm told), and the digital input plays hi-res files, unlike the old one. Not that it'll get any use from me.

I would have been ok paying £120 to get my old CDP fixed, so getting a later 'upgraded' model brand new with 5 year guarantee for the same money is a proper win imo

Only downside: looks like I've lost my copy of Blood Sugar Sex Magic which I sent off with the player, but I think it would be churlish to be kicking off about it
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

Speakers: KEF Reference 3, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Arcam A75 integrated, Monitor Audio R852 MD speakers
    A/V:
LG OLED65 G56LS, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL T9i sub.

Looks like you got a result there, but I'd still ask about the CD. You never know.

That's a pretty big downside - it's one of the best things ever done by anyone ever.

Who did Blood Sugar Sex Magic? The title 'rings a bell', but I can't think who it was.
