Sky - Price hikes, I'm getting fed up with it - Alternatives?

They're all moving to systems where you can't skip the ads. Virgin are after me to 'upgrade' the box but the new one just streams on demand, it doesn't record.

I always record the shows that I want to watch properly so I can fast forward through the ads, I never watch them as they air. Can't do that with the new box. At some point they'll fix it so those with the old boxes have to change. Quite glad I hung on to my Philips VCR and some NOS tapes.

Ah, yeah... That's what I mean. I can't skip ads on live TV, I just record it, then skip them.

Virgin isn't available where I am, it looked okay too.

It's rubbish really, not the tech but there's almost nothing on telly any more. Same old shows continually repeated, because all the rest are on the 'on demand' services now, where you pay a subscription and then they want you to pay per episode on top of that to watch some programmes.

Cable used to be really good, loads of good channels like Sony TV, Paramount, TCM, Bravo. They've all gone. It would take ages to go through all the channels, now it takes about a minute. Thinking of getting rid of it entirely.
