The Rover SD-1 was a 'fast back' 3.5 litre car used at the time by, amongst others, the police (who no doubt would have had the fuel injection version).
The SD-1 Vitesse model developed 160bhp and had a 0 - 60mph acceleration of 7 seconds.

Technology moves on, and my little Audi with its 1.4 litre engine develops 220bhp and the 0 - 60mph acceleration is 6.8 seconds.

Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic states that the album "May consist mainly of filler, but it's expertly written and performed filler"

The album is frequently placed last on ranked lists of Steely Dan's albums, with Stereogum music writer Zach Schonfeld writing in 2020 that the album "seems to exist largely to make it easy for fans to identify the bottom rung in their Steely Dan album ranking".

No it's an off the shelf model. The figures I quoted were taken from the owner handbook. They were all in metric units, so I had to convert them to British units. My intention was not to boast, rather than to express amazement of engine development that a car with an engine 2/5 the capacity of the Rover could outperform the latter. BTW, my previous two cars were Rovers!

Anyway enough of the thread drift, I think I'll go now and play something by The Cars.

That is what is known as 'damming with feint praise'! I don't have a copy so cannot comment on Erlwine's 'review'.
