Managing humidity

I've concluded that this is a short term battle that can't be won - running a dehumidifier for c8 hours a day gets below 40 but by the next morning it's back over 75.

Same in my kitchen in the winter. Humidity 80 percent, run the dehumidifier for a few hours, down to 70. Empty a pint or more of water out of it. Half an hour later (with it switched off) back to 80 again.

Long term it has dried the place out a bit, no longer gets into the 90s. When I first got it I was emptying about a gallon a day out of it for the first week.

Humidity in here yesterday got to 73% today it's 54%

Nothing's changed other than the weather. Shows you can't do much about it except maybe run a big de-humidifier constantly.
