I agree, much better examples of that period imo. You had 'grunge', and bands like Faith No More, Nirvana, Guns 'n' Roses, Pearl Jam, Pixies and various other 4AD labelmates, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Also a great time if you were into EDM, with The Orb, Underworld Primal Scream, Orbital, Chemical Brothers, to name a few. Really revived my interest in buying music

Had a re-think about this - actually my interest in music around that time didn't need reviving, it was preceded by some great albums from Talk Talk, Tears for Fears, Peter Gabriel, Joe Jackson, The The, XTC, UB40, Sade...

It's really just post 2000 music I find a bit shit

They're all really from the preceeding era even though some of them kept going. '87 to about '94 had its own bands and vibe. Like this:

Released today and my first spin - Teddy is Richard and Linda Thompson's son. Unsure about it at the moment compared to his earlier albums. All a bit safe and MOR, still like his voice though
