Interesting question Martin, it was released on CD in 1995 but for some reason I never bought it then, not sure why. This version is the RSD release from a few ago and the first time vinyl (my preferred way of listening to music) and mastered by Bernie Grundman, so it sounds great .

Is it worth getting, in my opinion yes but its not a live concert, its a live album with tracks picked from different gigs, which may not be to everyone’s taste.

Bernie Grundman... there's a name I keep seeing, including Zappa's "Waka/Jawaka" album I got a year or two ago. Which sounds great btw.

If you see “BG” in the dead wax you can be sure the sound will be great.

A true classic. Reminds me of many, many demos in the shop and sitting at the beach bar in Majorca, enjoying Paella and San Miguel. Those were the days.

I've seen it for sale second hand lots of times but never really thought of them as a live band even though I've seen them live a couple of times.

I might pick it up if it's still in the shop next time I go. I don't mind live albums that are stitched together, I mean Sinatra 'Live at the Sands' is the greatest live album ever and that's put together from different shows.

Excellent recording, the production is very 80s to my ears, lots of keyboard going on. According to Wikipedia, in a 2023 interview with Vulture (an American entertainment website apparently), he was so determined to be the support act For Talking Heads, he started writing more oblique pieces of music, embracing new studio techniques... seems he had a bit of a thing for David Byrne.

Reading between the lines it looks like he is not that keen on this album. Never mind, I've decided I do quite like it Even though the album art looks like it was designed by the bloke who invented shell suits.

I don't know of that recording. I like David Byrne (and Talking Heads), so I might check that one out.

I bought this LP on its release, obviously for the music, and not for the cover. But lately the cover artwork has more interest for me as, apart from her hair, the Madonna of the Annunciation looks very much like my partner.

The artist also did the cover for Miles Davis's 'Bitches Brew'.
