    Default Forum outage

Did any of you experience difficulty logging in to AoS today? For me the outage started around 09:00 and lasted until around 17:00, so most of the day (timings are approximate).

I'm not sure what caused the outage but I will try to ascertain the cause.

I did, the first time since I've joined; is it something I did!?

    Is this a regular thing?

No Alistair, it is nothing you did, nor is it a frequent event. Fortunately these outages are very rare, but when they do happen we have an expert here who can fix them.

It happened quite regularly a couple of years ago and then seemed to stop I hope it's not going to keep repeating again like before.

I'm not aware of any time when forum outages were "quite regular". I've been a Member for 17 years and a Moderator for about 12 years.

That is not to say that outages have not occurred, but they were few and far between and always quickly dealt with by Nick (Beechwoods).

Yes, I also had outage for most of the day but it’s been fine since. Good to know that in Marco’s sad absence, there are still members here who can fix these things. A shame the forum has become much quieter but that seems to be the case with Hi-Fi forums in general these days. Probably a sign of the times and the lengthening age of forum members. It’s clear from the shows I’ve attended in the last few years that most attendees are well into the second half of their lives. However, I believe there will always be a niche market for quality home sound systems. It’ll be interesting to see how the industry develops. I like to think there will always be a place for the likes of us who do a bit of DIY and simply know how to get a system to work.

Gone off topic I know. Just something I wanted to say.

Yes it is, you need to stop doing that... Only kidding! No it was nobody's fault, and it's not a frequent thing either. There was an issue briefly a couple of years ago, but it got sorted and has been fine since.

Marco had to put another 50p in the meter, and all was good.
