My doctor recently gave me the hard sell about stopping smoking, telling me how smoking (and vaping too for that matter) are really bad for blood pressure. My blood pressure has got into the "dangerously high" category (around 190/90), so something had to be done.
I'm now into my fourth week of not smoking, and I do feel a bit better, though boredom-eating is the new enemy. But I can only fight one battle at a time...
Saving me some money as well, which is nice - so far the saving has paid for a nice little gold sapphire ring for Anita and a five quid record for me![]()

COPD can be a nasty after effect.
My Mum ended up with it after 30+ years on the fags.
It took out Mr Spock too,
His chronic smoking habit got Nimoy in the end.
Letting go and relaxing

My mum too. I'm hoping that giving up in my early 50s is enough for me to avoid it.
So glad I gave up when I was 25.
I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

This is a good point I skanked a couple of rollies at the Whittlebury show [emoji23] but if I bought a whole packet I'd smoke the lot. If they still sold 10s I'd probably buy those but they said it stopped people giving up. For me it just meant I'd have to smoke 20 instead of 10 on a night out and the next day.
That's how it would be for me... You'll be too young to remember this, but in the early 70s a lot of corner shops would sell you single cigarettes (seppies) for two or three pence each! I suspect their target customers would be schoolkids who might choose a fag over a bag of crisps with their lunch money. We never stood a chance.
