Does mention in the description that the cones have been doped. Done right would make the response smoother at a cost of some sensitivity.

Seems like the studio closed back in the late 1980s or early 90s.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > Troels Gravesen Faital 3WC-15.

If you look at photos 15 then 18 I think someone has painted the cone with the same paint they used for the cabinet. It looks like it might have gone on the surround as well. I wouldn't be touching them with a bargepole.

Yes I see what you mean.

Also the cabs seem way too small for those drivers to operate optimally.

I did say they were 'interesting' but not necessarily for the right reasons

Just out of interest how easy is it to recone a hard edged Tannoy? Is it just a case of glueing the cone to the chassis and does someone even make hard edged cones still?

Tuner really only a showpiece but this has always been my favourite QUAD pre with volume knob on the remote instead of up/down buttons.

And the orange display ofc. Lots of bids so far.
Despite admiring the elegant aesthetics, and undoubted fine sound quality, I try to eschew anything that requires the use of a remote control. Can't do anything about TVs and DVD players, but I can and do with audio equipment.

My Levinson CDP has a remote, but it is not necessary to use it to operate the player.

Agree there's no need for a CDP remote but remote control of volume is handy.

I do have remotes for the amp and the CD player. After trying them once I took the batteries out, and they're now in a drawer somewhere. I don't mind getting up to do the work myself, the exercise is good for me.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: KEF Reference 3, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Arcam A75 integrated, Monitor Audio R852 MD speakers
    A/V:
LG OLED65 G56LS, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL T9i sub.
