Power quality is everything,
and when you think of it the incoming AC is passed through the fuse before it even gets to your equipment.
And yet us Audio experts fuss about spikes, footers, cable direction and the like?

These things all make an impact but by how much?

How some folk say the incoming AC choke point (i.e. Fuse) can’t make a difference I’ve no idea.
Learned not to try and convince them though, none of my business what others think.

Same can be said about cables, some folk can hear the difference and some can’t.

Some years back I was messing with plugs and thought I could hear a difference between different sides of a double socket! It may have only been a small difference but nonetheless I heard it. I am sure there is a technical reason or I am just bonkers!

What kind of fuses do you use in the plugtops for your Holo equipment?

do you mean the IEC cable plug fuse, as opposed to the internal fuse on the unit itself?
If so, there isn’t one.

All my Hifi gear is fed from a hardwired Shuko mains block, powered directly from a tail from the balanced mains unit, which is hardwired into the mains.
From there it’s Wireworld silver Shuko IEC cables feeding all the black boxes.

Get your point though about why fuss with fancy internal fuses if there’s a Bussman (or worse!) in the plug.

My Balanced mains unit is twin pole RCBO protected, as well as the RCDs in the main feed, so no issue with not having a plug fuse.

Thats only there to protect the cable anyway, not the equipment.

Fair enough, though I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say your balanced mains unit is hardwired into the mains. Is it wall mounted, and what is the current rating of the twin-pole RCDs?

Most balanced mains units,the commercial Russ Andrews type ones anyway, are an extension block which plugs into the wall?

Mines taps directly into the CU.
No idea about the current rating of the RCDs, my spark took care of all that stuff when he set it up.

If it "plugs into the wall" it is not hardwired and something has to be fitted into the plug; unless, that is, you use Shuko sockets which are individually protected by their own circuit breaker.

But as you say the whole was installed by your sparky, who no doubt would have issued you with a certificate for the work done.
