I have still not managed to make the journey to a NEBO, but it is quite a trek.
Have fun.

Mick got his ESLs going later in the evening, using Macca's Sony pre and Mick's own Radford something-or-other (sorry, don't know the model name, but it was 50-odd years old). Clarity and purity of sound are words that come to mind, and I was surprised to hear that it wasn't found wanting in the bass department. Just a lovely and realistic performance that you could listen to all day without fatigue. Makes me wonder just how far things have really moved along in the last half century, probably 10% genuine advances and 90% clever marketing! Just my two pennies worth![]()

Quad ESL-57s driven by either a Radford STA15 or STA25 always were a good pairing. The only improvement might be to use a pair of Radford monoblock amplifiers: the MA15 or MA25, but they are rare: I don't think I have ever seen a pair for sale.
Thanks for the feedback. Now you will perhaps understand why I have lived with mine for fifty years, and keep a Radford STA15 Mk.III amplifier as 'back up'.

At the close of play,Steve and myself ended up feeding the system with an ipod.Focus (House of the King) and Faun,a German medieaval rock band sounded as described above. Thoroughly enjoyed the day ,as always. Thanks again Steve

Sounds like a great time was had by all. I really want to come to one but the timing never seems to work for me. I still haven't given up though.
Looking forward to seeing some photos.![]()
