    July 11th, new Superman movie.

After Zack Snyder's dark dreary Superman with Henry Cavill in the role, this gives me Christopher Reeve Superman '78 vibes, WAY better.
Not been buzzed about a movie like this in a while.

    IMAX day 1 for me.

    Teaser Trailer:

Final Trailer (Doesn't give any major Plot Spoilers)

Saw last mission impossible at the weekend, good action sequences but overly long, I fell asleep.

The TV show was never up to much either. The self-destructing tape, that was it.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > Troels Gravesen Faital 3WC-15.

Superman was awesome, the best since Richard Donner's Superman 2.

Saw in IMAX as well, picked my usual smack bang in the middle of the screen seat as well, so all was right with the world.
Instant 4K Bluray purchase on release.

Really enjoy James Gunn's take over Zack Snyder's DC Moovie-verse.
Superman is a universal concept: He's us at our best - it adapts for the Times - but that Film just was Ego stuff.
I enjoyed Man of Steel though... as it was the Studio's first take on it, and not the 12th take on the same thing. It was new.

Its folks flying about with Superpowers after all?
Not a Wagnerian existential examination of Mans place in the Universe and...whatever all else that other stuff was (smashing your two action figures together Pew! Pew!)
That had been done to death in the comics in the 90s, and (in my opinion) where it should have died.
Anyhoo, talk about a movies tone being all over the place?

Superman 2025 was a fresh take, a comic book literally brought to life.

As a Superman comic fan since I was a Kid, my inner 10 year old was beaming in the Cinema.
Rumour is James Gunn's next Superman project is Kingdom Come, a huge deal if you know that book.

Speaking of comic books brought to life, saw this last night?

Big fan (again) of the Fantastic 4 comics as a Kid,
this was Jack Kirby's drawings brought to life.
The 60's style "future retro" set design and vintage Cinematography (think Kubrik's 2001) is worth the ticket alone.

    Loved it.
These kinds of movies work better when taken as "fantastic" stories in THEIR worlds, and not trying to bring Men in spandex into OUR world?
Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy was lightning in a bottle (and got found out by the third Movie) but aside that nothing else really works as well?
Sam Raimi knew the formula before Nolan's movies with his Spiderman trilogy.

The better MCU movies (Usually the Captain America ones) as the "tone" was right kinda got there, but fell off when they went weird and (not so) wonderful.

    Glad the cycle's rebooted again.
Catch F4 after the Cinema run if you need to, its a great movie.

I found the transfer of American comic book "action heros" to be disappointing. For me the biggest disappointments were the movie adaptation of 'The Fantastic Four', and even worse was the adaptation of 'The Green Lantern'.

I would be interested in a sequel to The Fantastic Four, but new films based on the characters of Superman or Batman don't fill me with much enthusiasm.

The Lego Batman film is quite entertaining.

    Yeah,
Agree the three previous F4 movies were hit n miss.

The new one just out is a completely fresh take though. Very like the comics which is an improvement.
