It was that era though wasn't it? They always used Blue Nile albums for reviews, especially in TFR and HFR.

I listened to a Linn set up once in the 90's , and that was enough to put me in the none Linn camp, I was surprised at the time as I expected it to sound more real, it wasn't awful, the frequency balance just sounded odd to my ears, maybe my expectations were too high or the listening venue(dealers) was crap.

I only came across the Blue Nile in 1998 when Sue purchased me a pair of KEF 3.2 series IIs for my 40th, they sold CDs in the Guildford HiFi shop, I purchased 'A Walk Across The Rooftops' as it looked interesting. I only got there later albums about 10 years on. All of them are regularly given a spin

My copy is the Reverence/Irreverence CD which I purchased when working in Holland, a Swiss programming colleague at Hewlett Packard put his headphones on my head and said you have to hear this. I went and got a copy the next day. Reverence has remained a favourite in my collection ever since, and often gets played in the car. Strangely I have never purchased any of there subsequent albums, there is quite a few to choose from but where to start?

If you were living up here there was no escaping the Blue Nile, they were played everywhere. Saying that I have played the albums regularly over the years.

original 1980s issue seems to have more dynamic range compared to the remaster, as is often the case:

I doubt this would be noticeable as not much difference in this case.

What do those numbers actually mean? The scale (linear, logarithmic?) looks arbitrary.

Besides the aforementioned 'Reverence', I have Outrospective, Sunday 8pm, To All New Arrivals, No Roots, The Dance Never Ends, and all of them are good imo. I imagine most people would rate Reverence top, followed by No Roots, but To All New Arrivals is the one I go back to the most.

There'll be one or two later albums which I'm not familiar with so cannot comment. There are also a shitload of 'best ofs' and a couple of remix albums knocking about.
