Gift Horse, 1952..
The ship portraying H.M.S. Ballentrae was actually H.M.S. Leamington. She was Lend Leased to the U.K. as one of the fifty Lend Lease destroyers in 1940. In an interesting twist, she was further loaned by the British to the Soviets in 1944, and named Zhguchi. She was returned in to the British in 1950 and scrapped in 1951. She was used for the set of this movie prior to scrapping.
Commander Fraser refers to his service medals as "Squeak" and "Wilfred". These were nicknames for the the British War Medal and the British Victory Medal of World War I. (Note: The 1914 Star and the 1914-15 Star star were nicknamed "Pip". The three names come from the names of characters in a Daily Mirror cartoon strip.)

Harlem Nights, 1989.
Eddie Murphy once said that the jokes and camaraderie between him, Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, Robin Harris, and Della Reese behind the scenes were much funnier than anything that was in the film.
According to Gabi Tartakovsky's June 7, 2011 article "Harlem Nights (1989): Eddie Murphy and the Original Gangsters of Black Comedy" at the Pop Matters website, "Pryor's toning down the Sugar Ray character wasn't scripted as such, and Pryor believed his performance was the result of being bothered with a recent Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, which he kept to himself at the time."
The story of Irish mobster Bugsy Calhoune trying to take over Sugar Ray's night club in order to control black Harlem is loosely inspired by the real-life feud between Jewish gangster Dutch Schultz and black gangster Bumpy Johnson over control of Harlem's lucrative "numbers" gambling rackets in the mid 1930s.

28 Days Later, 2002..
This was one of the first mainstream films to be shot entirely digitally as opposed to with film.
Athletes were cast as the Infected because of how important physicality is to them. Danny Boyle felt that since athletes can do things other people can't, they would be interesting when translated into the movements of the Infected.
The crew filed all of the necessary papers to destroy the Canary Wharf petrol station, but the police were (unintentionally) not notified. When the explosives were detonated, police sent fire brigades (although one was already present). Danny Boyle resolved the matter after several hours. The explosion cost £250,000 total.

One of the most ridiculous disaster movies I have seen was 'Moonfall' (2022). An absurd mixture of alien conspiracy, AI, and an odd team flown into space to put things right.
It was so bad I was gripped for the entire duration of the film. The CGI special effects are however very good.
