It's not always about the voice though - if you don't care for that type of music, the best voice in the world isn't going to save it.
I feel the same about Mary J. Blige, who I think has an incredible voice. Dubbed "The Queen of Hip Hop", and "Queen of Soul/R&B", she's never going to make it into my record collection. Be nice if she moved into another genre, say rock - the version of U2's "One" with her doing guest vocals is so much better than the one with just Bono.

Can't say I agree with that, I think Bono's voice on that song is spot on !!!! Not too many women can do rock music well (not that that particular song is a rock song though). That's just my humble opinion.

Having now watched the video you sent, I don't consider that is a rock song; I actually quite like the song and the girl performs it quite well
Again, I have to be honest here, I never saw Patti Smith as a rock singer; she was associated with the american punk scene but I saw her more as a poetic folk type singer. If I were to try and give a good example of a female rock singer it'd be Suzi Quatro in her younger days.

Try the albums 'Dreamboat Annie', 'Dog & Butterfly' or "Little Queen' all by Heart, albums that rock with some great female vocals IMHO.
