Old age. When terms like "coping strategies" cause bewilderment.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

That's because people who are old now were doing them even before we had a name for them.

On BBC News, just listening to Charlie III waffling at the COP28 shindig. Just a waste of air! He should put his wellies back on and take another wander round his (our) estates and keep out of the way.

Mrs. P spent way more than she needed to on new bins (should have gone to Specsavers) - a recent news item on the telly had the banner "King Charles III", she said "What, he's ill already, he hasn't been king five minutes"

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

He never managed to grow into his looks, but even so he seems to have aged 10 years in the last twelve months. He should have passed it over to one of the kids, assuming he's allowed to do that.

How far detached from the real world he is? A few weeks living on a rough housing estate surviving on minimum benefit could be enlightening to him, instead of rubbing shoulders in effete and insular circles. I wonder if he's chums with the Rees-Mogg thing?

Of course he can - it's called abdication. The last monarch to abdicate was Edward VIII so he could marry Mrs Simpson. George VI took his place.

However the royal family were so traumatised by the event they are unlikely to repeat it.
