For sure there was a lot of cack on TV in the 70s and 80s, just as there is today. But I do enjoy quite a lot of the older stuff, it takes me back to what were simpler times. Or what seems now like simpler times, nostalgia might be colouring my judgement.
I would choose Six Million Dollar Man or Minder over Love Island or Married at First Sight any day of the week.
What I would like to see making a return is "The Rockford Files". I think that will have stood the test of time quite nicely.
