War for the Planet of the Apes, 2017..




Primatologists who saw the film said the apes' behavior was surprisingly realistic. Karin Konoval's performance as Maurice the orangutan was especially noteworthy.

When Maurice speaks to the human child with her new name "Nova... No-va," the dialogue is the actual voice of Charlton Heston speaking the same words to Linda Harrison in Planet of the Apes (1968). The voice has been electronically altered, but is still clearly recognizable.

The water dumped on Caesar around 1:27:00 was supposed to be warm, but the crew forgot to heat it up. Caesar's shocked reaction is authentic. They were all apologetic afterward, but Andy Serkis said that it worked for the scene.

Originally, the Jimi Hendrix version of the National Anthem was going to play when the humans put the apes to work on the wall. The film wasn't able to secure the rights.
The technology behind performance capture "can only capture about a dozen apes at a time, there's so much data that the computers have to hold on the movement of just twelve people." Larger scenes required a focus on the performers with small pockets of extras in the background that would be adjusted and blended in post.

For sure there was a lot of cack on TV in the 70s and 80s, just as there is today. But I do enjoy quite a lot of the older stuff, it takes me back to what were simpler times. Or what seems now like simpler times, nostalgia might be colouring my judgement.

I would choose Six Million Dollar Man or Minder over Love Island or Married at First Sight any day of the week.

What I would like to see making a return is "The Rockford Files". I think that will have stood the test of time quite nicely.

Of the UK serials, I already have the complete collection of 'Red Dwarf', and some early 'Doc Martin'.

MASH was a sitcom not a soap - and it's repeated all the time. There's a channel that shows it in constant rotation, two episodes a night.

Don't think Rockford has been on telly in twenty years or more. Got the box set for that, like Grant says it is chunky;

They don't seem to make private eye or detective shows now - or if they do we don't get them here. Probably be crap anyway as there doesn't seem to be the writing or acting talent any more. Last one I can think of was the Magnum P.I reboot and that was cancelled because the advertisers had no interest in its viewing demographic - males over forty,

i used to have that.. it was not how i remembered it and gave it away. the canned laughter was cronic. think i have all red dwarfs tho; a terrific show
