This was filed in the Classical section of my LP collection, under "T" between Tchaikovsky and Vivaldi. It is a collection of Debussy tone poems as interpreted by Tomita, and it is typical annoying sythesiser 'noodling', reminiscent of the 'Switched on Bach' work of Walter/Wendy Carlos.

Instantly forgettable. Again probably picked it up cheap in a charity shop - and that is back where it's going!

It's one of those albums that benefit from not being given much attention when playing. I don't mind it myself.

When My lad moved in to his rental house for his second year at uni a month or so back, the first thing he did was go halfs on a turntable with one of the other lads and bought a couple of records.

A proud moment. I've now handed over a few duplicates I had, (Sensational Alex Harvey Band and Steve Harley) I hope the rest of the house enjoy....

Can't fault that!! Big journeys start with small steps; here's hoping it progresses from there !

This Music on Vinyl pressing is actually a double album, the second disc carrying 7 bonus tracks, same as the CD. I'm liking this album more than I was expecting, very bluesy.

TBH, I've never checked this band out before and tonight, I thought, lets give it a try. I have to admit, I like this a lot; in places it's like psychedelic blues rock and reminds me a bit of the Stones and in a few other areas, its totally out there !! Very interesting !!! Great choice !!!

So, unfortunately, no time probably for a vinyl album as I decided that this band would be first up and thier epic double album The Wall from 1979 is where we start today. I think it's fair to say this album has sold multi platinum in pretty much every territory that matters peaking with 23 x Platinum sales in the USA.

As this album is part of the Shine On box set it would be inevitable that I would end up playing another one of the albums maybe Dark Side of the Moon or Wish You Were Here or maybe Animals or ...........

I do, however, still have the original vinyl release of The Wall from 1979 which has regrettably seen better days from a playing perspective!

As the collection was meant to showcase the best of Pink Floyd, the decision was made to not include the soundtrack albums More or Obscured by Clouds, or the albums Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother and The Final Cut. The band's first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, was also omitted, as EMI were planning to release a special edition of the album at the time, and it was hoped that new fans would buy both this set and the re-released debut album.

The packaging on each of the previously released albums was unique to this set, with each CD housed in a solid black jewel case with a small sticker of the album cover affixed to the front. When lined up in order of release, the spines of the eight CD cases displayed the prism image from the cover of The Dark Side of the Moon.

Thanks, still missing a few albums of thiers and just been looking at a few of them on CD or reissued LP's and decided for the option of filling all the gaps, well all the albums excluding compilations, to buy the Discovery box set which fills all the gaps and of course duplicates a few too but they are different remasters at least.
