Privatising them was the biggest con ever.
    you should never privatise essentials...ever.

..a bit like insurance for cars.. its essential and car ownership is essential to most and country but you see private firms now upping policies 10 fold for evs for no good, legit reason. thats because the govt doesnt have a basic policy that the companies have to beat.

That would be nice, but I can't see the govt getting stuck into that, too complicated. I mean, who out of the present shower could you trust with it?

I did read something about the insurance price hikes for evs, with some refusing to renew cover. They're blaming the uncertainty of repair costs. So why did they try to jack up my diesel van premiums by 30%?

I sold my old Pioneer cd player on Ebay for £50, the one with the big loading tray, that you play discs upside down. Sold a few records too, Scott 4 went for £63 in VG+ condition, it's gone up a bit since I bought it 10 yrs ago, about 100%. Most of the others I sold went for their min. bid of £10, which is fine. Everyone happy with my gradings and quick shipment. Anyway cd player buyer claims it wasn't reading discs, when its been working fine for about 5 years. I ask for a video and true enough it ain't reading em, can only assume it got thrown about by royal mail, I did pack it well. Anyways, i accept his return and buy an email label, then just as I pay see its got my old address on it (for returns), forgot to update my seller account, you'd think it would be the same as one's buyer account, but no. So contact ebay, they say ok tell the seller not to send it back, and Ebay will automatically cancel the label and won't charge me, and I'm like, oh shit I gotta sort out a new label now myself, with another courier, what a fucking drag. Then the Ebay guy goes, no worries, I see you've been an Ebay member for 17 years, and your feedback is excellent, and he just refunded the buyer for me, without the need to send it back, all on Ebay. I was well shocked, nice to see someone cares about loyal customers.

That catches me out. My Meridian takes discs the right way up and the Trichord, the 'wrong' way up .
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

The whole thing always struck me as totally pointless, it makes no difference to anything whether the laser is mounted above or below the disc.

Just something for the marketing manager to put in the brochure to distinguish their players from a hundred others.

My Sony player needs the disc 'puck' to be fitted. It won't play otherwise. Plenty of other equally good players do not require the use of a puck - is it just a 'gimmick'?
