Dog was bitten yesterday by some little terrier type dog, £1000 for 2 stitches, I kid you not, Really hoping the insurance will pay.

Vets are a money spinning cartel these days, their greed will put them out of business. I won't be having more pets after mutt goes.

An advert that really annoys me right now is for Petplan, featuring "Supervet" Noel Fitzpatrick, where he starts with "As a pet owner I know you you want the best treatment for your pet". He does weird stuff like titanium joints, probably at prices that approach new car territory.

As a pet owner, I know that if my cat was hit by a car, and I told Petplan I wanted Fitzpatrick to fit a new bionic leg they would just say "Oh you're only covered for amputation or euthanasia", and if it's anything like the insurance we had for our old bullmastiff, we'd have to foot the bill then claim off the insurance and hope for the best.

ive no pets now, and the financial viability of having one is part of that decision; the other being my lack of fitness to look after it properly.

Yeh, its kinda similar to the car accident damage scam, I reversed into a car last year, causing minor damage including smashed rear light, it was really minimal, insurance paid out £5000, with things like a 'new boot', honest to God, fucking bullshit.

Talking of car insurance, I have just renewed mine.

The original quote was a 33.5% increase over last year's insurance premium. Not surpringly I called them to say that whilst I understood repair costs have increased, both for parts and labour, most other insurance companies have increased their quotes by around 25%.

Needless to say my telecon querying their quote and asking if something could be done about it paid dividends: the revised quote was an acceptable 8.2% increase over that paid last year.

I'm sure others also 'shop around', but if you don't at least phone your present provider and see if they can improve on their quote (which IMO are set by some computer algorithm, expecting you to just "shrug your sholders" and pay up}.
