There were only three or four cones there, which we easily drove round. It was actually no problem to turn left at the top of the slip road. Worked out well. Although yes, it was breaking the law.

We did the same driving back from Ayr last year, when the M6 was closed near Penrith. The A roads provided a scenic alternative, saw places we didn't know existed, and even with a half hour stop at a roadside cafe (a lot cheaper than motorway services), our journey was less than an hour more.I might give up motorways entirely soon and go back to the A roads. We did this on holiday and only put half an hour on our journey. No hold ups and much more relaxed and I could drive mostly at 50 mph which is the same speed for much of the motorway network in this country.

Me too. Don't eat fresh out of date stuff unless I can see it's still ok, and not ready meals etc.
2 are dated for tomorrow. Still I can have one today and one tomorrow am. Often only eat in the morning tbh. Just depends on how I'm feeling.
Had second half of the pasta meal I made yesterday this morning, but hadn't ate for about 20hrs. It's not when these days but if I'm hungry hungry Homer.
