You were lucky; not only to find an NHS dentist nearby, but to have any necessary work done there and then.

Well done! I pay £600 a year for a private dentist, who runs a state-of-the-art practice, and see him about four times a year. Considering the only work I have done is the removal of tartar (a continuing problem), I could argue that it costs me £150 a time. But I'm not complaining - I've been seeing him for years, and he has looked after my teeth, which will see me out to the end.

I thought my short spell of misfortune began and ended on Sunday when I accidentally cut through the wire when trimming the conifers, but it turns out that wasn't the end of it oh no

Turns out I tripped the contact breaker for the garage, meaning that now, 48 hours later, the chest freezer is no longer freezing... I'm hoping that re-freezing part thawed food isn't a big deal, but we'll eat it anyway, or die trying.

Thanks for that Grant, I would have gone for it anyway, but Anita is more of a worrier. But then I do give her plenty to worry about - I'm not fit to be out and about without a responsible adult.

Yesterday she got a parking ticket through the post, because her car was parked on Stockton on Tees Premier Inn's car park without authorisation. That was me going to NEBO. Apparently I should have got it validated by the hotel Bloke at the hotel is going to try to sort it for us, otherwise it's 60 quid, which is a tenner more than the hotel stay cost me.

If the freezer was largely full, then the contents should be OK after 48 hours. If the food still has ice crystals on its surface, then it will be safe to re-freeze.

Yes it is all of those things, with just a few baguettes and loaves of bread on top.

bread may have protected the innards somewhat. always wise to keep freezer ful, even if some of it is just for filling like bread etc.

My inability to deal with even the simplest things competently continues. This morning I went to buy a fence post for some work I'm doing at my daughters. I paid for the post, but forgot to take it with me. Realised my error when I got back to my daughters, and had to drive the 3 miles back to the shop for it And I was wondering what to do with the last few miles of diesel in my van...

Good news is that diesel is now £1.45.7 per litre at the Asda. Come down quite a bit recently.
