“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

I sort of concur but, I did like A Momentary Lapse Of Reason; the production on it was very of the time but, I did like the album as a whole and especially the intro Signs Of Life!!

Loz, if you're not averse to tribute acts, I can highly recommend Australian Pink Floyd - I saw them in Liverpool a few years ago and they were excellent. They're doing 2 nights at Birmingham's Symphony Hall in November as part of their "Dark Side of the Moon 1973-2023" tour.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: KEF Reference 3, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Arcam A75 integrated, Monitor Audio R852 MD speakers
    A/V:
LG OLED65 G56LS, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL T9i sub.

And then there is 'Think Floyd': https://www.thinkfloyd.net/, a UK tribute group, who has received praise from PF drummer Nick MAson.

As well as my favourite Conwy PF tribute act: 'Pinc Ffloyd'. Love the Welsh spelling, however I've no idea if the lyrics are sung in Welsh or in English.

I think I may have seen Think Floyd a few years ago at a large bike festival. Really good. The bass on "Breathe" in particular had me trouser legs flapping

Never heard of Pinc Ffloyd - did they do a cover of Atom Heart Mother with a sheep on the sleeve instead of a cow?

The only thing I got at Sunday's car boot. Don't know why I bought this, I already have a vinyl copy. probably because there was bugger all else. Car boot these days is 80% traders, 20% crap. Ok if you're in the market for a phone charger or a giant pack of bog rolls.
