the world seems more and more on a road to a major war. i guess its been a while since we had a major all in war and throughout history it shows these things will happen again and again mostly due to greed and desire for more and more power. nuclear weapons seemed to hold things together but i fear due to their proliferation in different hands, eventually someone is going to push their luck.

you mean regarding nuclear proliferation? I think that while it's not impossible (just highly unlikely) that a tactical weapon might be used at some point in the future (Ukraine?) that doesn't mean the start of WW3.only takes one to tango...and there are now too many ones'
WW1 started because Germany was being squeezed for resources in what was still an imperial age.
WW2 in Europe started because of nutters taking advantage of a severe economic depression and the problems caused by the Treaty Of Versailles, and in the Pacific because Japan was squeezed for resources.
I don't see the same situations now. if Japan had known that the retaliation for their attack on Pearl Harbour would be the USA nuking Tokyo I think they would have found a different way out of their problem.

I think it will reach a stalemate, as there is very little progress from either side. WW3 is unlikely, as there is too much at stake. All wars end up at the negotiating table.
