Only George Cole left of the crew (and Michael Ripper as the liftman), and the film shows its limitations without some greats..

Schoolgirls from a Catholic convent school in Altona, Hampshire were used as extras in the film.

The role of Monty, boyfriend of Howerd's eldest daughter, is played by an (uncredited) Robert Powell.

The mock newspaper just before the end has a line stating that Ringo is upset at St Trinians being honoured. This is a reference to many establishment figures voicing complaints at The Beatles being recently honoured with MBEs.

It was Alistair Sim who made them, you can't just swap in people like Reg Varney and hope to do the same. Still it's a better effort than the two modern editions.

When it came to casting and shooting the ratting scene, the crew were somewhat closemouthed about discussing certain details with writer and director Michael Crichton. They presented only one dog (not several candidates) and told him that this was the dog he definitely wanted. Likewise, they didn't explain much as to how they would set up the activity in the ratting pit. Only when it came time for the shoot did Crichton realize they had acquired an actual ratting dog and had captured live sewer rats, which the dog killed by biting and snapping their necks with a vigorous shake. Crichton said that the R.S.P.C.A. did find out what was happening and confronted them about it, but no legal action resulted.

This movie and The Shawshank Redemption (1994) opened on the same date, October 14, 1994. Both were nominated for seven Academy Awards, with this movie winning for Best Original Screenplay. Both movies gained cult status in the following years, and are listed in the top ten in IMDb's top 250 movies (as of March 2019).

Part of the dance that Vince (John Travolta) and Mia (Uma Thurman) perform at Jack Rabbit Slim's was copied, movement by movement, from the dance performed early in Fellini's classic Federico Fellini's 8½ (1963) by Gloria Morin (Barbara Steele) and Mario Mezzabotta (Mario Pisu).

Uma Thurman was reportedly very nervous during the dancing scene with John Travolta, as he was famed for his dancing ability. He reputedly told her to "shut up and twist" when she mentioned it to him.

In the year 2019, the world economy has collapsed. The great freedoms of the United States are no longer, as the once great nation has sealed off its borders and become a militarized police state, censoring all film, art, literature, and communications... sounds like somewhere?? lol

When Rob Cohen purchased the rights to the Richard Bachman novel "The Running Man", he had no idea that Bachman was actually a pseudonym for Stephen King.

It's hinted that Mic Fleetwood plays himself in the movie. In the film, the resistance leader's name is Mick and he is British and when Mick meets Richards to remove his explosive collar from around his neck he says to him "You're one of the cops who locked up all my friends, burned my songs."

Saw it at the cinema on it's release. At first I didn't like it as it seemed to make violence look 'chic'. But thought I ought to give it another go, and realised it was a Swiftian comment and satire about American society. Dry black humour with an out-of-sequence interacting character plot lines; following the late French film director Jean-luc Goddard's maxim that "a film should have a beginning, a middle, and an end - but not necessarily in that order".

yes its very well done. different take to the Alistair Sim one, but of course that was hampered by it being in 50's..

Rogue Male, 1976... The old un restored version as im not up to getting the bluray out.. superb tv film this with Peter O'Toole in the starring role.




Talking of Alistair Sim, this was his filnal role.

This movie was based on the Geoffrey Household book "Rogue Male", published in 1939. The main protagonist and the main antagonist went unnamed in that novel. However, Household wrote a sequel--"Rogue Justice"--that was published in 1982. In that novel, the main characters' names were revealed: Raymond Ingelram and Von Lauen. The lawyer is named Saul Harding.

The story was previously filmed by Fritz Lang as Man Hunt (1941). This was a very free adaptation - Geoffrey Household later said that Lang had "made a smashing film", but it hadn't been much like the book. This television version also took several liberties, but was generally closer in plot and it, too, won praise from the author.
