i never understood why water mills went out of fashion. One thing we're not short of here is water. You could use that to spin the washing machine, or do loads of other things. Charge a leccy car off it.

You'd need to move to a house by a stream though. Or divert one through your land, like they do in the westerns.

If I ever won the lottery though, I'd buy a house next to a stream, I believe some good savings can be made with a water powered generator. No need for it ever to fail - during dry spells I could assist the stream by adding water from my tap via a garden hose

The majority of water wheels are big, cumbersome and slow moving so dont really generate electricity well. Its not to say you couldnt do it tho. You just have to design a different one and put it in a place where it will spin quickly enough.

yeah it can but a normal waterwheel doesnt spin quickly enough reall to produce enough. you have to design it right and place it right too. it still wont do much more than a house and solar and wind are more productive on small scales. tidal works well too ... solar panels on my roof would likely produce all i need plus a bit

Microplastics found in human blood.

Microplastic pollution has been detected in human blood for the first time, with scientists finding the tiny particles in almost 80% of the people tested.

The discovery shows the particles can travel around the body and may lodge in organs. The impact on health is as yet unknown. But researchers are concerned as*microplastics cause damage to human cells*in the laboratory and*air pollution particles*are already known to enter the body and cause millions of early deaths a year.
