on the video you can hear the wpc asking him to stop resisting.

I suspect they sent 6 officers as he's a big lad and they probably expected trouble. If he'd just said 'fair cop', turned around and let them put the bracelets on there would have been no bother. Down the station, quick interview, caution and off you go home. He just made it hard on himself for no reason.

Former university lecturer so that was probably his first encounter with the real world.

It used to be a saying of mine that 'they are the biggest criminal organisation in the country'.

Naturally, they think nobody will nick them. I've seen first hand what they get up to on more than one occasion.

The police, like the military, are a necessary evil. We need them unfortunately, but things could be so much better.

The video starts with him on the ground and the reason he is on the ground is because he resisted arrest, sticks or not. You think they wrestled him to the ground for fun? They only do that if you resist being handcuffed.

The bloke is obviously very naďve, he clearly couldn't believe they came to arrest him for what he did and probably thought that if he made a bit of a fuss about being handcuffed they'd just go away.

Yes, you get the odd nutter in the police but in general they are fine (and nothing like the cops in America, not even close). They have to deal with utter dickheads every day to the point where that's what they expect to face every time and they are trained not to piss about if someone resists.

The reason there is six of them is because it makes it easier to subdue someone without seriously hurting them even if they are big and strong.

the point is they shouldnt be arresting him. a total waste of police time. a ticking off or they could just charge him there and then, cuffing and dragging the guy to a station by 6 cops is foolish and makes them look so bad. the should all be suspended.

and video doesnt show him resisting.

only when they dont act like villans and thugs. otherwise yes, and they do have a difficult job etc but that type of behaviour was over the top. you can tell by looking at guy he wasnt going to assault anyone.

I agree it's a waste of police time. But he does resist arrest, you can hear the WPC telling him to stop struggling.

Plus it isn't the fault of the officers involved. They have been ordered to go and arrest him, they haven't decided to do it off their own bat.
