Simple: to increase the uptake of vaccination. 'Oooh - look how bad things are, you better get jabbed to protect yourself!'

They're still not happy with the amount of 'dodgers'. especially among the young. Therefore, expect further 'creative reconstruction of the figures' and coercion (as we've seen with vaccine passports introduced at nightclubs and large events in Scotland), in order to up the jabbing stats!

Being the cynic, that I am, there are a couple of ways to comment on this....

Firstly, why has this taken so long to develop? Oddly the vaccine was quickly available! I did read somewhere that development (can’t substantiate because I forgot where) of a drug like this was halted.

Secondly, is this a medium for getting same stuff into our system as the vaccine without an injection?

Just thought...Thirdly are they covering off the “cocktail “ of drugs that similarly has been trialled in the US?

But that assumes that another way-out theory is also true - that the vaccine contains some secret...'thing'. A 'thing' that's totally undetectable.

No, not at all. It's obvious that the government want as many people as possible vaccinated (to offer protection from the virus) - you can't deny that; various forms of 'encouragement' for such are all over the place.

Therefore, falsely inflating the figures, to make the situation appear more serious, is simply another way of 'encouraging' uptake.

For some reason yesterday the data was late in being updated, but which it has now. Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:

Positive tests: 35,577 (36,480).

Deaths: 127 (137).

Hospitalisations: 768 (657).

So, a slight rise in hospitalisations (let's hope that's only temporary), although still showing a general downwards trend of over 12%, and a drop in new cases, which is welcome, as is the continued drop in deaths, down by nearly 20% over the same 7 day period.

In Wales (previous day's figures in brackets):

New cases: 3,009 (2,580).

Deaths: 5 (13).

I know this will make me seem thick, but I don't care - WHY does the government want us all vaccinated? Is it not simply that vaccines are cheaper than hospital stays? I'm assuming here that jabs actually do reduce the chances of serious infection.

I'm happy to learn what people think, as long as it doesn't involve trawling through endless numbers of links

You're not thick, nor wrong in what you're saying. Some of that will no doubt be the case.

The cynics, however, might also say that BJ-boy wants to keep big pharma happy (so Billy-boy Gates gets even more obscenely rich), therefore not only encouraging vaccine uptake, but introducing various 'boosters', facilitates that through increased sales!

However, regardless of any of that, as I've said, one sure way (aside from coercion, as seen in Scotland with vaccine passports) of encouraging uptake is to ramp up the fear factor, and make the situation appear worse than it actually is, which is a possible reason for inflating the figures, as discussed with Martin

What I still find way-out is that we’re allegedly in a pandemic that has a low kill rate and you need a questionable test to indicate you have it with no symptoms.

The way masks are worn is a great way to spread any infections. No publication of any sort indicating how they should be worn, or the implications of ignorance.

If no one is trying to detect a “thing” it will remain hidden!

I don't know what the truth is. I would guess that there are reasons that they do it the way they do, but not being any sort of medical practitioner I wouldn't make any assumptions since there may be unknown unknowns (to me anyway).

If lockdown was made permanent and other draconian measures were being introduced maybe that would make sense - scare people into obedience. Except none of that is happening and instead they are trying to get the country back to normal.

it's possible that it's the opposite - they don't want to be accused of 'hiding the true death toll' so they just count everyone who could possibly have died from Covid.

I'd guess the question must already have been asked and answered somewhere but I can't be arsed to search for it.

I think that is the most likely - imagine the field day our press would have if there were the slightest indication that the figures given were "hiding the true death toll", far better for government to play it safe and use every case where Covid may have been a contributory factor.
