Hey Granty, I think you'd like some of the classic blues albums I picked up on original (mint) vinyl, from the likes of Jimmy Yancey, Blind Boy Fuller (with Sonny Terry and Bull City Red), Chuck Berry, Sonny Boy Williamson, Junior Wells, Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown and Muddy Waters.

You'll probably have heard of most of those?

jimmy yancey was good pianist.... clarence gatemouth brown was amazing too. Mainly a guitarist but multiinstrumentalist too. The others you'll know plenty about.

yeah he was good, and old school.. Ive one of his; get yir yaya's out. His stuff is very old and oft crackly as he died around ww2. But he was one of the most popular artists around in his day.

There are so many quality Pils-style continental lagers around, it's hard to choose. Staropramen is one of the better ones, as is Budvar (not Budweiser), which is quite different.

Agreed, proper Czech Budvar is lovely

I tend to avoid the 'usual suspects', such as Budweiser, Stella, Becks, Peroni, Grolsch, Moretti, Kronenbourg etc, as they're pale imitations of their real selves, when sold in their country of origin (a bit like sampling Guinness outside of Dublin), and go more leftfield.

The Peroni I buy is brewed and bottled in Italy. Moretti, which I haven't tried, is brewed by Heineken in the UK.

It can work the other way however - I used to drink Dutch Oranjeboom lager a lot in the '80s, but when I asked to try the same when I visited Holland I was told it would be disappointed as Oranjeboom export all their best lager to the UK.

Cheers, Barry. My knowledge of blues music is fairly limited, as it's a genre I've only gotten into in the last 15 years or so, and so was trying to be selective and buy stuff from some of the 'legends'!
