Yesterday before going the Opticians in Honiton I popped into the Hospicecare Charity Warehouse on the off chance they were doing vinyls again. My luck was in and they had a load, mostly classical, quite a few look as if they came from a collection of predominantly early classical, so I selected 2 classical and a couple of others for a £1 each.
Played yesterday after cleaning, musically I think it is very good, I am not usually into choral music but this is a rather lovely recording and nice pieces. the previous owner had noted on the inner sleeve as Very Good recording.

Nice additions there, Adrian. I regularly pick up stuff like that from charity shops, and some of those old recordings and performances are stunning, knocking into a cocked hat the majority of stuff produced today.
The 'golden era', for me, is late 50s to late 70s. Look out for anything on Decca, RCA Living Voice, HMV, Philips (Holland), Mercury Living Presence and Columbia, as not only do the recordings sound stunning, but in good condition, some are highly collectible!
