The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, 1974. directed by Joseph Sargent, and stars Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, Martin Balsam, and Hector Elizondo.






Production began with scenes inside the subway tunnel. These were filmed over the course of eight weeks on the local tracks of the IND Fulton Street Line at the abandoned Court Street in Brooklyn. Closed to the public in 1946, it became a filming location and home to the New York Transit Museum. (Among other films, the Court Street station was used for The French Connection, Death Wish, and the 2009 remake of Pelham.)

The production company set up chess boards, card tables, and ping pong tables along the Court Street platform for cast and crew recreation between set-ups. Robert Shaw apparently beat all comers in ping pong.

Picnic at Hanging Rock , 1975. With its haunting panpipes and unanswerable conclusion(or lack of), Peter Weir's film of the disappearance of several schoolgirls and their teacher during a picnic at Hanging Rock, Victoria on Valentine's Day in 1900, and the subsequent effect on the local community is still a classic tale and a beautiful one.

One odd film and one you'd more expect from likes of David Lynch.




I suppose its a film about unhealthy obsessions really.

a tale of sexual repression of girls. And i guess, greed and spite of the old over young i think. Wonderfully visualized too.

went to see that at a matinee showing when it first came out. Me and a mate we were the only two people in the theatre. They didn't even bother to put the heating on for us. I was okay had a big coat on but my pal was just wearing a leather jacket, he was practically blue with cold by the time it finished. Good film though.

Surprising how few films he has made in fifty years. 'Gallipoli' is his best IMO. A perfect film.

it was good, but needless to say not perfect. i enjoyed it at time, although Mel is inclined to overact at times.
Truman show was brilliantly done, although its not really my thing tbh i did find it so well done you have to enjoy it. Ive read a lot of the O'Brian books so enjoyed M and C

Or - David Lynch's films are ugly-looking, whereas Peter Weir's films are much more pleasing to the eye.
