no you dont do that with a cvt.. you would just get lots of revving lol. in sport mode its a lot perkier but its not a race car. looks like one tho lol. still its the best handling car around. its near impossible to get it to lose its balance; very decent in snow too

Can't remember exactly which model you've got. It's a Toyota isn't it? I thought most of those have a specially designed transmission - so not quite a CVT as implemented in many other automatics, and the engines don't use quite the same approach as most petrol engines. The Toyota I used to drive was absolutely hopeless in snow, and if it snowed in Surrey I had to take a run at the short "hill" in our road, and keep revving up in order to get to the top - not far - perhaps 100 yards, but didn't always make it. Coming down was a nightmare it would slither from one side to the other, usually bumping into the kerbs.

If yours is good in snow then things must have improved quite a bit. On the other hand a Hyundai i10 - which is still going - would just go straight down without losing control.

its a chr with a planetary E-CVT. its an intelligent transmission that has an infinite number of gear ratios at its disposal. By constantly analysing vehicle speed, road conditions, engine power and driver input, it selects the optimal (most efficient) gear ratio for that precise moment. Obviously you need to help it to an extent as just hitting the floor wont cut it. it is important to watch the revs

good idea. my bro waxoiled nearly all his motors he was going to keep for over 3 yrs.
i gave mine another run today, got over 64mpg again... not to be sniffed at.

might reduce a bit in colder weather, but should still get good figures. i lose abot 12/15% efficiency in winter, but even petrol only do that

It's only really mine on paper - I paid for it, but after 5 weeks of "ownership" I haven't driven it once. Mrs. P does all the driving, as I'm always driving too fast, too slow, in the wrong lane etc., but I'm fine with that. I get to see the world moving past while all she sees is the road.

I still have my Vito and my Fireblade, which no one else gets to drive
