Enjoyed it but it wasn’t till I’d got into it then paused it to pop to the loo that I realised it was three and a half hours long so perhaps overly long like Most Scorsese films. De Niro wasn’t too convincing playing his younger self but I liked Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa. Think I dropped off towards the end so might need to revisit the ending lol.Originally Posted by struth

Another American classic now... Youn Mr Lincoln, 1939. This is the Criterion Bluray and very tidy it is for the year... Henry Fonda portrays Lincoln in his early years as a lawyer. John Ford (director) persuaded Fonda to take the role.
This is a Reg A film. Picture and audio is superb considering its over 80 years young.

King Of New York, 1991. American neo-noir crime thriller film starring Christopher Walken, David Caruso, Laurence Fishburne, Victor Argo, Wesley Snipes, and Giancarlo Esposito. It was directed by independent filmmaker Abel Ferrara and written by Nicholas St. John.
Total Film rated King of New York four stars out of five. Roger Ebert awarded two stars out of four, citing Walken's "usual polished and somehow sinister ease" and the director's strong command of mood and style, marred by a sketchy screenplay and a fragmented plot. Mark Caro, writing for the Chicago Tribune, gave the movie only 1/2 star. He called King of New York "a film that sucked like mad", adding that star Christopher Walken and the movie remain "just out of grasp".
Take your pick, but it crashed at the box office.

Nevada Smith, 1966. Directed by Henry Hathaway and starring Steve McQueen, Karl Malden, Brian Keith, Arthur Kennedy and Suzanne Pleshette.
The movie was a prequel to the 1961 Harold Robbins novel The Carpetbaggers, which had been made into a highly successful film two years earlier, with Alan Ladd playing McQueen's part as an older man. Nevada Smith depicts Smith's first meeting with another "Carpetbaggers" character, Jonas Cord, but the two films' stories are otherwise unrelated.
