You're about an hour or so from some gorgeous, uncrowded beaches, and less than half an hour from some gorgeous countryside, with as many quaint towns/villages, pubs and good eateries as you can shake a stick at, coupled with fast and convenient access to major motorway networks, and 20 mins from the beautiful and historic city of Chester.Originally Posted by struth

For outright stunning scenery though, Snowdonia and Anglesey are where it's at, and can be reached relatively quickly by car - certainly close enough to be able to leave Wrexham after breakfast and spend a good day in either, and get home well before bedtime, although perhaps not in your case!

Thats great Steve, hope you two have a fab break.Well, me and Mrs. P are having a week's holiday starting tomorrow. And as we haven't been anywhere this year we've decided to push the boat out, and are off to... Pontin's! In Weston Super-MareA day/night in Poole first, then up to Weston for 4 days.
Everywhere we've tried is either fully booked or stupidly expensive, but the Pontins is £350 for four days bed breakfast and evening meal. And our plan is for it to be our base, going out somewhere each day to explore places of interest (there must be some). So the Knobbly Knees contest will have to cope without me
Lesson learned though - if you want to stay somewhere nice, you should heed old Fred Pontin's advice and "Book Early"
