When shooting the early scene when the tanker burns and they abandon ship, Humphrey Bogart and Raymond Massey got into a friendly argument over who had the better stunt double. Actually, I must dig out 'Lost Highway' for another look. I remember finding that very striking and I enjoyed it.

Is that the one where an old guy goes to visit his friend hundreds of miles away, riding on a lawn tractor? It was panned by fans of David Lynch, claiming he had sold out in making a reasonably understandable film - a sort of David Lynch 'road movie'.
I quite liked it.

IMO the surest way to ruin a David Lynch film is to try to understand it. I always just enjoyed the "moments", without worrying too much what it all meant. I did try with "Twin Peaks" and that got me nowhere. Always liked the music too

That was 'The Straight Story' 1999. I saw it recently, it was OK, but not very memorable.
'Lost Highway' is very different and enigmatic to say the least. I found my DVD of it and will probably watch it again later.

Last night I watched Kevin Costner's 'Open Range', hadn't seen it before. He directed and starred with (the always excellent) Robert Duvall and Anette Bening. Not a bad movie, a little let down by the rather corny romantic ending. Great gunfight though!
