The masses tend not to to display discernment and listen to all sorts of horrific rubbish.

Remember one mains rubbish is another’s gold.

I don’t particularly like Rap or modern R&B/hip-hop(as it is called today) but actually recognise that there is some good in there as well as some not so good(IMO). Getting into Genreism really seems a bit pointless and at the risk of missing something that might be worthwhile.

Anyway I think I will go back to listening for now[emoji3]

What I would call a stunning album, it's up their with the best IMHO, recently re-released on 3*LP and its SQ is excellent. One of the best albums I have listened to for some time, this will played a lot.

I think you have forgotten those below, included because they all entered into the glam rock spirit at some point, flamboyant, cross-dressing, fantasy lyrics no-one understood, catchy riff driven songs etc.

As you may notice there are some very well known and influential artists who rode the glam rock wave, saw their way through the 2 years of punk backlash, which was effectively engineered anti-pop and went up its own rear end. They then saw the emergence of early goth and new-wave both harping back to glam influences but more edgy in some cases, by the end of the 80’s, the pop scene was loosing its way and became tedious with artists trying to find the new thing.

So whether you liked the glam era or not it did spawn some Very successful artists some of which are still with us today.

Whilst I agree with the gist of your theory and I know you didn't compile the list, some of these are not glam rock. Iggy Pop? New York Dolls? Alice Cooper?

If you look up 'Glam Rock' in the dictionary there's a picture of Slade. Start there and work out from both ends. Neither way do you ever get to Iggy Pop.

Steve Harleys refered to Glam Rock with respect to Cockney Rebel, even discogs categorise them as such, The Psychomodo their 2nd album, which I happen to have is certainly of the ilk. The NY Dolls are also classified as Glam/Rock and I would have considered them as such at that time. Alice is a difficult one because whilst his music is primarily Rock, his persona, stage shows and the albums all lean to Glam essence, I suppose one could consider him to be more of a theatrical hard rock artist. I agree I don't really see Iggy as Glam.
