I use those backgrounds of book-lined shelves to be a good test of the resolution of one's TV (and of course of the camera in the laptop etc.). I like to see how many of the titles printed on the spine I can read.
But my big dislike is the frequent lack of lip-synch - I find it irritating and unwatchable.

Any decent TV should have an audio delay/gain function. I have to alter mine as I change certain system digital components; I think it's running at -110ms currently. Spot on it is.
