It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I was just thinking - it’s so much nicer using the forum after making a contribution - I have no connection with the powers that be !

Trump's tenure as US president staggers towards an end in disgraceful insurrection. Somehow, I'm not surprised. Will he end up facing criminal charges? He is certainly guilty of incitement.

Taking down our tree, garland, wreath, Xmas cards and all our other decs today, which is somewhat a mammoth task, as is the clearing up process afterwards!

Worth it, though... Del's always sad though when all her 'spangly stuff' comes down and the house looks bare, but on the plus side we've got our side window back, which the tree was obscuring

All we want now is some PROPER snow, the kind that forces you either to hibernate, or dig yourself out of in order to get anywhere, so I guess 2-3 feet of the white fluffy stuff, which LIES nice and solidly... Come on, let's make it HAPPEN!!

Government guidance has no force in law. It is just advice, a suggestion or set of suggestions, and has no statutory authority whatsoever, no matter how strongly worded[cf Lord Justice Flaux's and Mr Justice Baker's ruling in the FCA court last year].

3 feet of snow? Nah, I'd rather have frost and sunshine, because there's places I need to be. I haven't time to be staring out the window while cosy and smug indoors. Damn spell-correct, it keeps saying smug when I mean to type smug. Drat, it's done it again

We still have snow on our lawn from last week, it looks very pretty

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
