Well I ordered "Museum Of Consciousness", a supposedly NM/NM copy at £98 with tracked postage and paid for it with Paypal at the end of November on CDandLP from a guy in France, it was confirmed as paid and a few days later after asking he confirmed it was sent and a La Poste tracking number was posted on the CDandLP, this never worked La Poste said it was not recognised. Further correspondence and he said he need to check the number on the receipt at his mothers, but the record definitely sent. Then a few days later he pm'd "my probleme today is that cd lp sent me a message telling me not to ship as you did not pay!!!!nice try:///" I replied saying I had proof of payment and asked if he had he meant the message for someone else. I have heard nothing since but I have managed to contact CDandLP, which is not at all easy, they have raised a claim on the order and asked I wait to the 3 January before taking action.

To say I am pissed off is an understatement, I presume that whole thing is a scam, but hopefully I will get my money back, I doubt I will ever use CDandLP again.

Not a big fan of 'Best ofs

I am - don't see why I should own a half a dozen or so LPs, just to have a couple of good tracks on each. Buying 'best of' compilations allows me to have, IMO, all of the better tracks without the padding or fillers that come with the separate LPs. Some argue that LPs are put together as a whole and that the tracks should be listened to in the order the artist(s) intended, but IMO that applies to a very few LPs. Playing 'Best of' collections allows me to be lazy and not to have to choose a specific LP by that artist .

It's genre independent: I have the 'best of': The Police; Pink Floyd; Stevie Wonder; Led Zeppelin; Nick Cave; Diana Ross; Elton John; The Animals; Rolling Stones; Bob Dylan; Family; James Brown, ..... . And 'Legend'.

Oh, I do have a copy of 'The Worst of Jefferson Airplane' as well as 'The Best of Jefferson Airplane'.

I don't know, I say I'm "not a fan", but out of your list alone I have compilations by The Police, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Rolling Stones Bob Dylan and James Brown. I could say that I limit compilations purchases to artists I'm not fussed about but the aforementioned list shows that clearly isn't so

I should have added that most of the 'best of' compilation CDs I have were picked up cheap in charity shops. My partner still has her own place, and since we also spend time there, many of the compilation discs are housed and played on her system chez elle.

It is far easier and more convenient to put on the 'best of' The Strangers, Velvet Underground, Dionne Warwick, Eddie Grant or Squeeze, for example, than to have to select a particular LP by the artists.

Only problem with 'best of' albums (on vinyl at least) is that the tracks tend to sound worse than on the original albums, due to cramming more of them onto a smaller area of groove space. CD 'best of' compilations often aren't that much better, also sometimes due to inferior standards of production, so there's often a sonic penalty to pay for the convenience.

However, I have to say that if I really like a particular group or solo artist then I generally like the vast majority of their output, so owning the original albums isn't a problem, as for me there won't be many 'duff' tracks

Different if I only like them a bit.
