I've owned most of Quantum Electronics output but never seen any 205 monoblocks. Also, does anyone know if the ST100's mooted bigger brother, the ST-150, ever made it into production?

'205' are very rare now, i paid a forunte for a pair 20 odd years ago.At the time i was using '102' Pre/ '402' PSU/'207DA' Dual active Power..also had a '202' kit aswell. I never ever saw the later new styling 'ST150' just the 'ST-100'. I put the tuner up as i thought Neil (DL) might have took it up being into tooners, but well done adam, like i said in the vintage communications thread ''the best kept secrets are the bargins''

My '102' pre control knobs wernt the same at these pictured, mine were black nylon affair, the press buttons were same tho. Theres seems to be a lot of text missing on the rear aswell.Maybe this was available in kit form aswell as the '202'!

Andre - thanks for the PM!

The Quantum stuff was available in kit form before they changed the names and offered them fully built. I have some data tucked away at home but if I recall correctly, it was the C1 preamp kit that became the 101 and then the 102, and the P2 power amp kit became the 202.

Finally, I'm not sure if it's OK for this thread, as I didn't buy them on eBay, but these mysteriously removed a tenner from my wallet and deposited themselves in the car when I was at the dump last week - Goodmans Magisters, with proper 15" bass drivers!

You tell 'em, Adam - anything less than a pair of 15-inchers makes you a pee-soaked weenie-boy!

I saw it but my eye is on Japanese tuners only for the time being. A European tuner mega review will probably not happen as frankly this Japanese one is a bid enough task to put me off doing another...though never say never.

Same seller was selling a Saba but they can have major issues so I steered clear.

Size isn't everything, but as the late, great Gilbert Briggs once said: "A bigger one will always beat a smaller one". He was of course referring to the speaker - but then you knew that anyway! (You did know that didn't you?)

I saw it but my eye is on Japanese tuners only for the time being.

I spied a Yamaha 'CT-7000' on the bay oveseas made a slight movement in the panty region i must say.. Sorry i lied it was a large movement

Magisters for a tenner? The nearest we got in our dump was a pair of Beovox P45's (wall mounted super-slim speakers) and I didn't have any money (I had ideas for using 'em in the garage).. These days, the dump is super-tidy with skips for everything and no old furniture etc. on display...
