Serious amp! But I never understood why you moved on that 300B, that was excellent.

It was..totally!

But it was one of those things, was that good that to get the best out of it you had to feed it top quality 300Bs.
Part of the valve amp way of ownership really, hence me stepping off.

At a grand a year for glass, cost of ownership got a bit much, hence me selling it.
Sound wise it was faultless.

Yes, I see what you mean. Those 300B valves do cost a packet. I remember when they were 30 or 40 quid and that seemed expensive then.

A while back was swithering how to get the best out my vinyl setup, particularly the best way to plonk my turntable down an a surface to get the most out of it.
Its Rega, it's fussy that way.
That and looking at alternative phonostages.

I'd thought about a Rega wall mount, but have a stone slab floor and concrete walls, so no big thrill putting the deck on the wall in comparison.
So got IsoAcoustic feet for the Rega, nice improvement and better isolated it from the glass table it sat on.
But still wanted to get it off the glass, and that was today's mission.

Was always going to stick a platform under the deck to get it up off the glass, even with the feet it wasn't ideal.
Just didn't know what or how.

Stiff n light like the deck, an Ikea "Aptitlig" bamboo chopping board. Seven quid but highly recommended and totally in line with the design philosophy of the turntable.
I know a lot of folks use the heavier Ikea bamboo butchers block, but its quite a bit heavier than this one, and with the P10 wanted to go for as light as possible.


Basically just plonked it down, don't like the way it looks so still to take the jigsaw to it and trim it so it just fits under the deck.
Spray it black to better match the deck as well.

Tried different feet under it, RDC cones, wooden cones, silicon nitride ceramic ball bearings in RDC cone cups, spikes...crikey you name it; just want to fix and forget it.
What works best on glass?
As I've found elsewhere with different kit on different shelves in my rack, the most effective seems to be the simplest.
SoundDampedSteel metal plates directly under the board and onto the glass.

Tried different combinations, just the SDS plates work best. Another box ticked, Job's a good 'un.

Just need to fillet the edges and prep. before spray painting it black to match, and can call this one done.
