To my eyes, the coffee (and milk froth) has a lighter, silkier consistency than usual, still lovely and rich looking, just a bit less 'gloopy', for want of a better word!

Not too bad.... Any tips for removing that black spot and ensuring a more even crema?
Bear in mind though, and I suspect that this will be significant, that was made with the same grind settling I'd have used for the Moka pot, as I was using up some excess coffee I had to play around with, so I wouldn't waste my good stuff!
So, what's the best way to go again, mate - a coarser or finer grind for espresso?

looks very decent.. dont worry too much re black spot; its just where its been pouring and depth of crema isnnt huge. Maybe add a little extra robusta in to help..not much tho.

Single, as it was a small espresso cup, and tamped down only with the distributor, not distributor and tamper, so fairly lightly tamped down.
I'll try it a bit harder later, by also using the tamper, as well as the distributor, and see what happens. Will also make the grind a little finer too, but will only introduce one variable at a time, so I know exactly what's causing the difference. Then when I'm happy with single shots, I'll try some doubles!
Not bad for a first effort though, eh?
